“Money isn’t everything”

So RRRR and I just got into a big debate about money.. He told me that he’s poor and I’m rich. And I told him I’m poor too, and most college students are. Then he goes on to say that he doesn’t need money because money isn’t everything. I in return told him money is everything and that the only people who say that are people who have no money. So of course he got angry and we got into a big dispute.

So here he goes blabbing on about how money isn’t everything and I keep coming back at him with my opinion. I tell him about how at this very moment in time money is everything. We need money to pay for our bills, to eat, for shelter, for communication with each other, for water, energy, etc. Then he comes back with how people in Africa don’t use money for anything but trade. Which I agreed. Money is used for trade. Before money people used their belongings and things that they made for trade, but in our economy and in the United States, money is what we use now for everything, we need it to survive. Then he goes on to say “I would rather be broke than to lose you, so money isn’t everything. Like I said, you need money but it isn’t everything.” That right there shut me up and I couldn’t stop but think in my head, “You asshole, you got me to shut up.” But I was also thinking “You are soooo freakin sweet.” Haha.

So that is my little slur on our debate today. After that, I said he was right and that money isn’t everything. And than I just kept thinking in my head on how I hate him so much sometimes but like him so much as well. Oh how shit works sometimes….
